Abbey

Arbroath Abbey is located close to the centre of the town of Arbroath. At first sight its urban setting seems odd, it's too easy to forget that when it was built, over 800 years ago, few of the buildings you see today in this part of Arbroath would have existed. Site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence 1320.

Auchmitie

Five miles north of Arbroath by road is the attractive little fishing village of Auchmithie, perched precariously on the cliff-top with a steep descent to the harbour and quay. Auchmithie is the true home of the smokie and, though Arbroath later took the credit, the village can at least lay claim to the region's best seafood restaurant, the But'n'Ben
